This semester my theme was more apparent than it was last semester. It is also pretty simple,  My theme is cool colors. All of my projects are glazed in blues and green or are generally on the cool side of the color wheel with a few acceptations.
Most of my projects are bowls and cups with some more advanced pieces as well. I have used different types of clay this year. I have used vashon red and porcelain. Even thought the red clay does not fit perfectly into my theme it still is included because the clay comes out dark. I enjoy using the other types of clay because it makes me a better artist over all and I enjoy trying new things.
All of my projects are thrown on the wheel, then dry for one to two days, depending on the size of the projects. Once it is dry enough I carve a foot into it.  Some of my projects need handles or other things that need to be attached, like a teapot spout, this all happens on the same day I foot. If I want to add any other characteristics to the  project I will add or take away clay to project before I let it dry the rest of the way.  Once it is dry, I put it in the bisk, it is in there for two days. When it comes out it is harder, I wash it and put it in my locker over night to dry. The next day I glaze it. They glazes are always on the cool side of the color wheel and  most have more than one glaze on it. If it has more than one color I glaze one half of it and put it on the shelf to dry then I glaze the other end. Before I put it on the glaze shelf I wipe off the bottom so that it does not run onto the glaze shelf while it is getting fired. If I want to stain it I first glaze it clear than paint the stain on the project before I put it on the shelf. Once it is out of the glaze kiln it is finished!
I love the way the dark colors look on a finished, shinny project! I enjoyed ceramics this semester because I was able to create projects that I am proud of and look cohesive when they are all placed together.

My statement- the theme that connects all of my projects together is the color blue.
My Projects-
  • tea pot
  • cups
  • bowls
  • plate
  • sugar pot
How they are made-
  •  All my projects are all made on the wheel. The projects that are only have a single part are thrown in one day, the projects that have more then one part usually take two days.
  • They then go into the bisk takes two days to fire.
  • Then they are glazed and put in the kiln for one more day.
My theme-
As I stated earlier my theme is pretty simple, all of my projects have blue incorporated into them in some way.

My theme is blue and white. My projects are all glazed in blue and or white. I like the way the glaze looks on the projects by having all my projects match it gives my creations unity and make them a set.
